Enterprise teams

A specific commercial problem deserves a specific skill set.

Large businesses do not always need another broad programme. Sometimes they need someone who can understand a particular problem, connect it across teams and help them act. I work on commercial challenges that sit between product, sales, operations and the systems and processes that connect them.

Where I can help.

  • A product launch into a new market or customer group.
  • An existing offer that is not making the impact it should.
  • Internal processes, habits or perceived constraints, rather than buyer behaviour, are the blocker.
  • A problem that crosses departments and has no clear owner.

Start with where you are now. Work back from the goal.

We map how the business works today: the processes, systems, data and decisions behind the problem, and what the market is telling you. Then we size where you could be and plan back from that goal. The work is shaped to the challenge; I do not use a fixed consultancy template.

  • Define the problem, constraints and evidence gaps.
  • Map the processes, systems, data and decision rights involved.
  • Size the opportunity using your own data and market evidence.
  • Connect product, market and operational decisions.
  • Plan back from the goal, with near-term actions alongside medium- and longer-term choices.
  • Work with internal teams on implementation, ownership and measures.

Specialist, hands-on support from one person, when you need expertise rather than a large consultancy.

I work as a hands-on extension of your team, usually on a monthly retainer, and stay involved through implementation. We agree the boundaries of the work and where the internal team or other specialists need to lead.

Questions

Can you work on one defined problem?

Yes. A focused commercial challenge lets us agree the scope, evidence and decisions needed before we start. I’ve learned there is rarely just one problem. It is often linked to other areas of the business, and if that’s the case, we will work through the transformation needed to get the result.

Can you work across functions?

Yes. Most commercial problems run through several teams. I work across sales, marketing, product and operations, and look at the processes, systems and handoffs between them as well as the strategy.

How is the work usually set up?

Usually as a monthly retainer, with me working alongside your team as a hands-on extension of it. Retainers start from £1,800 per month, the minimum retainer. A focused project with a defined scope is also possible.

Do you plan beyond the immediate fix?

Always. The work considers the near-term priority and what it means for medium- and longer-term direction. The horizons are set around your brief. I’m ambitious and not afraid to challenge, so if there’s a stronger option, I’ll evidence it and bring it to the table.

What problem needs a different way of thinking?

A first conversation about the challenge and whether I can help.
